Keep this perspective handy as you read college decision notifications. It’s not about the actual college. It’s what our culture attributed to each college name. Stay rooted in the total reality of your options. Do not follow one Ivy vine or maize and blue vine for that matter. Your success can come from thousands of roots. Believe it. Make your path. @michigandaily

I love love love listening to our office hum. Behind that door, two Root college advisors are talking to a student’s family about how to best reach their dreams. A parent has lots of questions. They are nervous about how to best set up a pathway of “success.” But what does that mean? They are getting into it. Prepared for what profession? How can employment be guaranteed? Why so far away? How much is that university? Is that a likely admit? What is the timeline? Love all the questions. Also loved as one of my kiddos left today that I heard a slight banging of our gong. She is excited to submit and celebrate w a gong slam ha ha. She actually gave us the biggest compliment of the week. I joked that she gets to come back next week does not “have” to. She quickly replied “I love coming here actually. It’s relaxing. It’s like a nature preserve.” She had me at “relaxing” 🙃. It’s all the feelings in this office. And we love it.
